St. Leonard’s is seeking a full-time program supervisor commencing November 1, 2024, potential to begin earlier. Under the direction of the Facility Manager, the Program Supervisor will maintain the overall supervision of St. Leonard’s Community Support, Prevention and Residential Services (SLCSRS) Residential Program by fully identifying with and promoting the philosophy of both the program and agency, adhering to the program design, and demonstrating sound supervision skills in the pursuit of objectives and goals.

Stemming from the amalgamation of two long standing organizations in 2020, St. Leonard’s Community Support, Prevention and Residential Services (SLCSPRS) continues to provide a broad spectrum of care from prevention to intervention within Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. We aspire to assist and enable youth and young adults who are, or at risk of being, in conflict with the law to build their life skills, increase their understanding and empathy, and to restore their self confidence and self-worth though effective, responsive, and accessible programs. Our staff work to support youth development to help them grow into the best versions of themselves. Our key programs include Youthreach, Extrajudicial Measures, Extrajudicial Sanctions, Youth Justice Committee, Attendance Centre, Reintegration Support, and Detention and Custody (males aged 12-17 years).
Key Responsibilities
Intake:
· Ensure that all referrals to the facility meet criteria
· Provide support to Prime Workers as a program resource for new intakes
· Familiarize yourself with all intake material
· Assign a Prime Worker for any new intake, having regard for the suitability of personalities and the youth’s needs
· Confirm that the new youth has received orientation to the program as outlined in the “Resident’s Handbook”
· Ensure through task or delegation that intakes are completed thoroughly
Direct Care:
· Through task or delegation ensure that each youth is receiving optimal daily basic care
· Through task or delegation ensure that each youth is receiving appropriate and acceptable behaviour management strategies
· Ensure Case Management Plans exist, are reviewed and functional for each youth
· Ensure that the advocacy and counselling role of the Prime Worker is maintained at a high standard
· Book regular monthly check-ins with the Prime Worker, to receive updated information on their work with youth assigned, and the Prime Workers overall wellbeing.
· Ensure Prime Workers are providing their youth with knowledge and understanding of their legal rights of a youth in care
· Ensure strong discharge planning starts at intake
Program Responsibility:
· Will provide on-call to the program as a support and resource person for decision making and problem solving.
· Provide Ministry reporting through SOR-RL as required
· Prior to being called in to work for coverage, all other options for coverage will be explored.
· Will provide strong leadership to all staff
· Ensure the overall program (routines, consequences, programming) addresses individual needs, through regular monitoring and evaluation
· Create program schedule for staff to follow, assign programs, review summaries
· Track Programs and completion for Ministry reporting
· Monitors and ensures special events planning has been assigned to the applicable staff for all relevant holidays, birthdays, and special occasions
· Involve yourself with the youth for a period of time each shift
· Ensures that all aspects of the YCJA, CFYSA, the Youth Justice Policies and the Policies and Procedures are adhered to as they apply to the program, and that staff are held accountable for them in the exercise of their duties (e.g. open custody/detention policies, children’s rights, etc.)
· Encourage and support a positive and congenial atmosphere among the youth and the staff
School:
· Ensure the educational needs of each youth has been addressed
· Ensure proper communication is shared with our education team
· Communicate all issues/concerns to the Facility Manager/or CEO as appropriate
Communication:
· Promote and model effective open team communication
· Ensure all pertinent information is passed on from shift to shift, either verbally or in written format
· Ensure all staff are aware of the existing complaints procedure and encourage them to utilize this system, when applicable.
· Ensure Youth also are aware of the complaint process and support youth as needed in completing this type of documentation
· Will communicate to the Facility Manager/CEO all issues, concerns regarding the supervision of staff, youth in care, and program operations
· Will ensure that all required documentation as dictated by the Ministry, is completed punctually, accurately and is of optimal quality
Other Duties:
· Develop professional skills through training opportunities
· Contribute to clean and organized workplace
· Always ensure proper conduct and appearance while on duty
· Take initiative and contribute to agency operations as a supportive team member
-Administrative duties as assigned by Facility Manager
Qualifications
· Ability to function independently within the framework of a team
· Ability to work effectively with youth and families in a planned, process-oriented, goal-oriented method
· Ability to work co-operatively and negotiate effectively within the program, the agency, and outside resources
· Proven working knowledge of the supervisory process
· Working knowledge of relevant legislation, agency policies and procedure, and philosophy
· Ability to exercise appropriate authority, leadership, direction, and accountability
· Competence in making and implementing decisions
· Ability to assess performance and take corrective action when necessary to ensure provision of good quality service
· Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise reports
· Qualifications and skill requirements obtained through a combination of having a diploma or degree in a relevant field of study and a minimum of three years experience of working with youth at risk in a supervisory capacity
· Excellent knowledge of Youth Justice Sector, including: applications of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the range of local supportive community services, and use of evidenced-based programming to address the risk/needs of youth
· Proven working knowledge of the supervisory process; able to complete staff evaluations
· General office procedures including a working knowledge of Office 365, including all applications
· Ability to effectively liaison with criminal justice partners
· Certified with Standard First Aid CPR A with AED
· Police check/vulnerable sector screen (Mandatory)
· Immunization record (current) and “letter of fitness” to work in a 24/7 setting
· Trained in UMAB
· Class “G” license required

$31.53-$37.23
