The Customs Coordinator and team lead is responsible for ensuring the timely release of customs shipments into Canada and the USA. The position requires the ability to effectively manage and multitask shipments based on carriers’ arrival times to border, freights arrival in land and to ensure all Government Agencies requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review release requests from carriers/freight forwarders, determine their ETA, as well as the accuracy of documents provided by carriers, and work with all parties to obtain any missing documents and information as required.
  • Classification of new products (HS Codes)
  • Liaison with CBSA, PGA and any/all OGDs required for timely release and proper final accounting of shipments.
  • Monitor ACROSS/CADEX/SWI rejects and releases and fix as required and actioned quickly and accurately.
  • Assisting clients and carriers with preparation of their ACE/E-manifests.
  • Generate U.S. Pro Forma & Customs Invoices for select clients as required.
  • Dispatching of LTL, truck, air and ocean shipments including tracking/tracing and keeping clients updated.
  • Strong customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills required.
  • Participate in meetings with operations manager to ensure proper implementation of new clients.
  • Responsible for customs staff scheduling, (vacation/time off) requests, and review of hours worked for submission of payroll.

Shifts and Schedule:

  • 8-hour shifts (8:30am – 5:00pm)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Preference will be given to any candidate with interest/ability to cover early evening shift(s) ex 10:30am-7pm
  • Required to work on call shift on rotation for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Degree/diploma-Ideally in Customs/Logistics
  • Certified Customs Specialist- (CCS) - an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (excel and word).
  • Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) designation - an asset
  • Knowledge of Descartes System Group (Imanet) customs software would be considered - an asset.

Compensation:

  • We offer a competitive salary, plus benefits as listed above.
  • Compensation for this position is based on previous experience and qualifications.

Belleville, Ontario K8P 1Z5 - reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Pay: $48,500.00-$53,500.00 per year
