Purpose and Scope:
The Market Clerk manages the operations of the Front Street Farmers’ Market in a fashion that will develop and enhance growth of the Farmers’ Market. The Market Clerk focuses on delivering quality customer service and continuous improvement processes, guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Quinte West, and the Front Street Farmers’ Market Sub-Committee.
The Market Clerk is responsible for the on-site supervision of the City’s Farmers’ Market program, accountable for the coordination of service delivery standards, and for providing leadership to the Farmers’ Market Vendor Group.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Responsibilities:
● Oversee the weekly operations of the Farmers’ Market including supervising vendors on site, interacting with customers, providing local tourism information, and reporting any concerns or incidents to the Economic Development Officer.
● Responsible for routine opening and closing duties of the market ensuring that the market area is safe with traffic redirected around market space, and barrier-free.
● Responsible for collection and accurate reporting of daily market fees as well as regular reporting on market traffic and vendor attendance.
● Responsible for allocating market stalls to vendors upon arrival.
● Responsible for enforcing market rules to ensure safety and equality for vendors and guests.
● Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and City policies where applicable.

Education/Specialized Training/Skills:
The position will require:
● A minimum of a grade 12 diploma; however, candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
● Strong customer focus, and excellent interpersonal skills.
● Reliable self-starter, able to make decisions and function with minimal supervision.
● Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.
● A highly developed sense of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
● Must demonstrate respect for confidential and sensitive issues.
● Proficient skills with mobile technology including Google Workplace, Microsoft Office Suite, Dayforce (or other scheduling software programs) email and internet.
● Proficient skills with social media content gathering ie. capturing photos and video with Google Pixel
● Effective written and verbal communication skills.
● Effective problem-solving skills and abilities.
● The ability to work with a diverse group of individuals in a team environment.
Nice to have:
Although not required, the following would be considered an asset to the position.
● The ability to communicate in both English and French.
● A valid Class G Driver’s Licence and a safe driving record in good standing, satisfactory to the employer.
Work Experience:
This position will require:
● A minimum of six (6) months of customer service experience is required.
Nice to have:

● Previous supervisory experience.
● Previous farmers’ market experience.
● Social media marketing experience.
Decision Making:
The position is responsible for providing timely, accurate information, advice and reports to the Manager, Economic Development Officer, department staff and other City departments where appropriate.
Supervision:
The position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the farmer’s market; however, has no formal supervisory responsibility over staff or vendors, with respect to human resources, disciplinary, or budgetary matters.
Work Environment:
● Occasional requirement to work at various locations in Quinte West.
● Must be available to work outdoors at designated Market, as required.
● Physical demand requires minimal lifting of up to 15 - 20 pounds.

Pay: $18.52-$20.13 per hour
