Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Library Services, this position provides support in acquisitions, serials, cataloging and circulation. The incumbent assists students and faculty in locating and utilizing subject matter appropriate materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Reference and circulation services for students, staff and community users
  • Development and updating of research guides
  • Indexing of The Pioneer
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

  • Completion of a two (2) year Library and Information Technician Diploma
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Library Services, preferably in an academic setting
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written communication)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of library processes, procedures, protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to problem-solve, multitask and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency with library software and various computer software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel), Internet, database management, web application and integrated library system
  • Familiarity with ExLibris Alma/Primo would be an asset
  • Experience with derivative/copy cataloguing required
  • Experience with student information system (e.g. Banner) and/or learning management system (e.g. Blackboard) is an asset
  • Physical dexterity/mobility and ability to lift up to 7 kg
  • An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student population
