Responsibilities

Packaging of manufactured products meeting quality and safety standards that are established when operating the line, follow all procedures and recipe direction.

Major Duties of the Position:

  • Set-up line according to recipe and end of shift cleaning of equipment and area
  • Operate filler equipment used to appropriate pack size
  • Operate coding equipment
  • Palletize according to recipe and operate trucks, complete documentation for finished goods
  • Coordinate activities of packaging and/or casing work group achieving established operating standards.
  • Timely supply of food and packaging materials to the line(s).
  • Assist the department team with troubleshooting and end of shift countdown.
  • Accurately record critical parameters on required paperwork and report deviations from standard to Quality Assurance and Supervision.
  • Record temperature according to the recipe requirements.
  • Record weight control data onto manual tallies or into computer based system. Maintain running average within allowable tolerances.
  • Perform routine set-up and maintenance procedures on assigned equipment, including lubrication and document out of standard deficiencies in MaintainX.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, GMP and QA standards. Pro-actively identify/report any safety concerns.
  • Care for the Environment by actively seeking out ways to eliminate waste of natural resources and by properly recycling any waste that cannot be avoided.
  • Actively participate in continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Document usage decisions and recipe information in Minotaur and MaintainX and complete corrective actions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to learn and implement new ways of thinking/working safely and productively to help achieve overall goals of the business.
  • Knowledge of minotaur transactions

Job Specifications:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform whole number and fractional calculations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude, with troubleshooting skills and willingness to train on major packaging equipment.
  • Ability to operate walkie truck.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards.

Working Conditions:

Physical Effort:

- Occassional lifting of 25 kg ingredient bags.

- Range of motion floor to shoulder.

- Walking / standing – continuously.

- Pulling / pushing – 200 lbs. occasionally.

- Low level & stair climbing during filler changeovers.

- Frequent lifting up to 24 kg (cases).

Physical Environment

- Operations temperature is maintained at 55-80˚ F.

- High humidity and wet conditions during cleaning.

Sensory Attention

- Medium.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

The individual is part of a key functional work group responsible for the preparation of cooked sauces, meats, and starch components. They are punctual, reliable and completely familiar with the operation of the factory as a whole and work with the Department Supervisor to achieve the established factory goals.
