Smart Start Coordinator in KFL&A

Smart Start Youth Employment Program for Women+

Length of Contract: 6-month contract
Wage: $23.61 - $25.04/hour
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Start Date: March 31, 2025

We are currently seeking a new team member in H&PE to assist with the coordination, facilitation, and participant support in the Girls Inc. Smart Start Youth Employment Program. Most work responsibilities will take place in-person at our program classroom or within the community in HPE, but the successful candidate may have a small caseload in KFL&A and will be required to be present in that community. The frequency and schedule for this will be determined in collaboration with the staff and manager. Travel compensation will be negotiated.

The Smart Start Coordinator will work with the Girls Inc. employment team to plan, onboard, and coordinate the Smart Start program. The successful candidate will be an empathetic, organized individual who works well within a team. Additionally, they will be passionate about helping clients with multiple barriers achieve their employment and educational goals.

Job Duties:

  • Develop individual targeted, solution‐focused interventions to ensure participant success.
  • Provide participants with the motivation and support they need to address their barriers to employment and education.
  • Coordinate and deliver employment and life‐skills workshops.
  • Assist participants in securing work placements relevant to their goals.
  • Liaise with community partners and community employers to foster positive work placement opportunities for participants.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field of study including but not limited to Social Service Worker, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Recreation Leadership, Therapeutic Recreation, Addictions, and Mental Health.
  • Successful completion of a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) check including a Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
  • Access to own transportation is required to travel to clients, community, and employment partners and to transport supplies.
